City Theatrical at USITT 2024
City Theatrical will be demonstrating new technology in Booth 2315 at USITT Annual Conference & Stage Expo, which will be at the Seattle Convention Center in Seattle, Washington from Wednesday, March 20 2024 through Saturday, March 23, 2024. Demonstrations will include DMXcat-E™, QolorFLEX® Quad Chip RGB Amber Plus Deep Red LED Tape, Multiverse® Connect Module, Wing Nut Socket, and MAC One Beam Control Accessories. These products are expansions of City Theatrical’s award-winning DMXcat Multi Function Test Tool system, family of QolorFLEX LED tapes and Multiverse wireless DMX/RDM technology, and expansive hardware and beam control accessories collections. City Theatrical will also be offering a USITT event giveaway of a DMXcat® Multi Function Test Tool to one randomly selected event participant who registers with the City Theatrical team in Booth 2315 before the event concludes. The winner will be announced via email one week after the show.

City Theatrical Launches QolorFLEX Quad Chip Plus Deep Red LED Tape
City Theatrical is proud to announce its first 2024 product launch with QolorFLEX® Quad Chip RGB Amber Plus Deep Red LED Tape. As an expansion to the QolorFLEX line of LED Tapes, Dimmers, and Accessories, QolorFLEX Quad Chip RGB Amber Plus Deep Red LED Tape is the ideal LED tape for lighting designers looking to achieve a true deep red color in their lighting design projects. While most similar to City Theatrical’s QolorFLEX Quad Chip 4-in-1 LED Tape product in its RGB & Amber colorway, the new QolorFLEX Quad Chip RGB Amber Plus Deep Red LED Tape offers all the 4-in-1 color blending capabilities of the 4-in-1 RGB & Amber, as well as the deep red hue. This QolorFLEX Quad Chip RGB Amber Plus Deep Red LED Tape includes an additional wavelength of 660 for Deep Red, making the wavelength for the LED tape 622/518/468/588/660. Its brightness is 455 lumens/meter, and it consumes 70 watts/5-meter reel, or 4.27 watts/foot. This LED tape includes both 5050 and 2835 LED chip sizes in a single tape, to benefit from both the four-color blending of a 5050 Quad Chip 4-in-1, and the bold deep red color in a single 2835 chip.

City Theatrical's Founder Gary Fails Retires After 37 Years
Congratulations to our founder and president, Gary Fails, on his retirement from City Theatrical on December 29, 2023. This year, 2023, marks Gary’s 52nd year in professional lighting. Gary's career started when he dropped out of Columbia University and went on the road with Dance Theatre of Harlem as a teenager, first as a truck driver and later as an electrician, stage manager, and lighting designer. The rest is history! City Theatrical 1253 Adapter, Source Four to Scrim, New Product for Film & Video
City Theatrical designed the Adapter, 6 1/4” to 6 5/8” Source Four to Scrim (P/N 1253), for the needs of film lighting projects. You can use it to connect one or multiple scrims to an ETC Source Four lighting fixture, in order to achieve the lighting looks desired for film and video projects. City Theatrical Adapters can extend the use of your accessory inventory by allowing larger accessories, like those with a 7.5” frame size, to be used on a standard Source Four with a 6.5” frame. City Theatrical Adapters allow you to use older Top Hats, or even newer Source Four PAR size Top Hats, color scrollers, or effects devices with Source Four fixtures.

City Theatrical has launched 30 new lighting accessories for 2022 to broaden its line of lighting accessories to best meet the needs of lighting professionals. These additions are now part of the company’s US and European Product Catalogs, reinforcing City Theatrical’s status as having the world’s most extensive catalog of unique lighting accessories for entertainment and architectural lighting. City Theatrical added Electrical/Electronic products to its catalog for 2022, including a standard “Stubby” Dual Band Omni Antenna, 900Hz/2.4GHz, 1.8dBi/3.8dBi, which is an optional antenna for all Multiverse® wireless DMX/RDM products when space constraints are a concern. He has been an entrepreneur and manager of teams that support the creation and implementation of new lighting and scenic projects worldwide. Mr. Crawford will use his keen problem-solving skills, people and project management techniques, and vast understanding of the unique needs of lighting professions and the entertainment industry as a whole to lead City Theatrical in this new role.

City Theatrical's QolorFLEX NuNeon Debuts in the Duke Dumont Tour
City Theatrical’s QolorFLEX® NuNeon, RGB was recently used for British Electronic Artist Duke Dumont’s new tour at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California on September 10, 2021 and September 11, 2021 to create an asymmetrical, central set piece that will travel with the artist to various venues around the world as the tour continues into 2022. A total of 48 reels of QolorFLEX NuNeon were used to adorn the artist’s performance area with a complex system of loose, color-changing cables, as well as outline the performance area. QolorFLEX 24x3A Dimmers are being used to provide dimming control for the QolorFLEX NuNeon.

City Theatrical Retires the AutoYoke®
City Theatrical has retired the iconic AutoYoke® after 22 years of production. City Theatrical brought the AutoYoke to market in 1999 by marrying the ETC Source Four ellipsoidal with a precision pan/tilt yoke, and it was the first hard edge incandescent automated lighting solution designed especially for theatrical use. Most hard edge moving lights of the 1990s utilized arc source lamps which produced skin tones that many theatrical designers did not like. Broadway lighting designer Brian MacDevitt asked City Theatrical to produce a remotely refocusable Source Four so his moving lights would match the color temperature of his conventional units. Since City Theatrical was founded to serve the needs of professional lighting designers and technicians by creating these unique lighting accessories.

City Theatrical’s Multiverse® Studio Wireless DMX/RDM at the CBS original television series, The Unicorn
City Theatrical’s Multiverse® Studio Kit, a wireless DMX solution for film & video projects, was recently used to provide wireless DMX/RDM for Season II of the CBS original television series The Unicorn. Long battery life, dual band operation, contactless charging, and rating for outdoor use are among the features of this new wireless DMX technology that were used during shooting. Chief Lighting Technician Justin Stroh first became aware of Multiverse wireless DMX/RDM technology in 2019, from a demonstration at Cine Gear Expo, a film trade show on the Paramount Studios lot in Los Angeles. With prior experience using existing wireless DMX technologies for television and film projects, Justin and his team were looking for wireless DMX solutions that offered reliable functionality with greater usability, making products easier to deal with and use on set. Upon testing this new technology, they decided to use it on The Unicorn, and first began using Multiverse wireless DMX/RDM technology during the first season of shooting. For Season II, they implemented the new battery powered Multiverse Studio Kit with contactless charging, which includes six Multiverse Studio Receivers.

City Theatrical Launches Multiverse Vero Transceiver Products For Outdoor Wireless DMX Installations
City Theatrical’s Multiverse Vero Transceiver 900MHz/2.4GHz (P/N 7400-5902) brings the advanced features of the Multiverse wireless DMX/RDM system to outdoor installations for architecture and entertainment. The Multiverse Vero Transceiver 900MHz/2.4GHz contains two radios, 2.4GHz (for worldwide use) and 900MHz (for use in the Americas only), which allows the user to select which radio band to use via the Multiverse SHoW ID. Its internal backlit LCD display simplifies setup and gives feedback on system performance. Each unit comes with a dual band 2.5dBi Outdoor Omni-directional Antenna.
