QolorFLEX® 2x2.5A Multiverse® Dimmer

City Theatrical QolorFLEX® 2x2.5A Multiverse® Dimmer (P/Ns 5916 and 5917) are small, constant voltage, two-output dimmer designed to be mounted in small spaces such as props, costumes, wands, and candles. They can be controlled wirelessly using City Theatrical’s Multiverse or SHoW DMX Neo wireless DMX/RDM technology, or with wired DMX.

Similar to City Theatrical's QolorFLEX 5x2.5A Multiverse Dimmers, these dimmers provide 20-bit PWM resolution and four DMX personality options (two variations of 8-bit and 16-bit control) for extremely smooth dimming at the low end of the dimming curve. Configuration is performed using RDM, such as with a City Theatrical DMXcat®, or with City Theatrical’s USB Configuration program for PC/MAC (available on the "Downloads" tab below).

A plastic case is included with the QolorFLEX 2x2.5A Multiverse Dimmer to allow easy mounting to scenery while enabling removal of the dimmer from the case for wiring and configuration. These dimmers are designed and built in the USA by City Theatrical, and are available in the 2.4GHz (P/N 5916) or 900MHz (P/N 5917) band.

These 5916/17 Dimmers draw 0.36W in wireless mode and 0.27W in wired mode.

pdf QolorFLEX Multiverse Wireless DMX Dimming at Stranger Things

“I like how easy it is to start using Multiverse wireless DMX and I always remember how to use it every time I work with Joy. It’s definitely a trusted system. Show ID and Show KEY are the best things since sliced bread.”

- Anna McKindley, Fixtures Technician, Stranger Things, Season 4

Stranger Things is a TV Horror show with four seasons since it was first released on Netflix in 2016. The show is set in a small town that uncovers a mystery involving secret experiments and supernatural forces. Dual band Multiverse® Transmitter (P/N 5910) and Multiverse Node (P/N 5902) and 13 miniature QolorFLEX® 2x2.5A 900MHz Multiverse Dimmers (P/N 5917) were used during filming the most recent season four for their smooth wireless DMX dimming control and reliability on the 900MHz band. The dimmers were installed on bicycles and within flashlight props to drive 30W LEDs, which put out enough heat to melt plastic. City Theatrical talked to Fixtures Technician Anna McKindley about Multiverse at the show.

pdf QolorFLEX 5-in-1 LED Tape, QolorFLEX 5x2.5A Multiverse Dimmers, Multiverse wireless DMX and Custom Manufacturing for Peery's Egyptian Theater in Ogden, Utah

“In the opinion of much of the team taking on this project, City Theatrical is the industry leader of wireless DMX. Our prior experience using SHoW Baby devices has shown reliability and responsive wireless DMX, and dual band Multiverse technology was our perfect solution for this installation.”
- Hayden Wadsworth, Theater Technical Lead, Peery’s Egyptian Theater

pdf QolorFLEX LED Tape and Multiverse wireless DMX Lobby and Loge Installation The Joyce Theater, New York, NY

“Multiverse wireless DMX is being used in the auditorium to control the QolorFLEX LED Tape in locations that we cannot pull new DMX wiring to, like the fascia/facing of our loge areas. There is a single QolorFLEX 5x2.5A Multiverse Dimmer in each location that allows us to control the new QolorFLEX Warm White LED Tape from our main lighting console.”

- Jeff Segal, Director of Production, The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc
