What is the best part about working at City Theatrical? It’s good to learn about the lighting industry in a clean environment. The manager is very helpful when I have questions about some products. 

What advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue a career in Lighting? Always be responsible with your work and take pleasure out of everything that you are learning. This will surely help you in your future.

What is the most satisfying part of working at City Theatrical? Definitely seeing the end-results of our hard work, since our products usually end up in some fascinating projects! Also, getting to work every day with such a friendly team and clientele.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue a career in Lighting? Learn as much as you can from those around you and let your curiosity roam free. Don’t ever be afraid to ask questions.

What is the most satisfying part of working at City Theatrical? The most satisfying part of working at City Theatrical is working with great colleagues in the industry, helping to make the service better for our customers, the ownership of everyday challenges, problem-solving and the multi-tasking nature of my job.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue a career in Lighting? Learn the basics, get hands-on experience, stay up to date with industry technology and network.

How long have you worked at City Theatrical? 6.5 years

What is the most satisfying part of working at City Theatrical? I enjoy working with colleagues around the world, on the marketing team as well as in the other departments of the company! We are a small organization and all wear a lot of hats, and are lucky to work with a lot of talented people with various expertise. In my role, I'm also fortunate to interface with professionals in the industry, and easily my favorite thing to work on is developing case studies and designer interviews. Hearing how our products are used in the field to solve problems and make lighting professionals' lives easier makes our jobs worthwhile. 

What advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue a career in Lighting? I would say we need more strong women - come aboard! It's a fun ride and you'll learn a lot along the way. If you're into Broadway shows or new films or TV shows, it's very cool to work for a company that's building the future of the technology that's used behind the stage or screen.

What is the most satisfying part of working at City Theatrical? I can communicate with my teammates, which helps me understand and learn more about each of them. Also, helping our customers and clearing up any doubts regarding payments and procedures. Lastly, I love when we have our company's end of the month lunch, where we all enjoy a meal together.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue a career in Lighting? My advice as a woman is to keep learning and don’t let fear get to you. Fear means you are alive and that means you can do anything you want to achieve. So go ahead!

What is the most satisfying part of working at City Theatrical? It’s a tie between the amazing team I’m surrounded by and knowing that every day I am contributing to making theatre happen (and I'm a big theatre nerd!).

What advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue a career in Lighting? Never sell yourself short and have confidence in your abilities. It's really easy for us as women to undervalue ourselves and our contributions, so remember to always take a step back and remind yourself that you are intelligent, capable, and awesome!

What is the most satisfying part of working at City Theatrical? The most satisfying part of working here at City Theatrical has to be seeing our products being used as lighting solutions in so many well known shows, films and events. It makes you so proud of where you work! No two days are ever the same and I particularly love the creative side to my role, adding interesting webpages to the City Theatrical website, adding informative content to our social media pages as well as interacting with our followers. 

What advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue a career in Lighting? Go for it! I highly recommend in working in this field to all women especially with interests in theatre and film. Do your product research and learn about the technology that is used within the lighting industry and it will give you a great headstart into a career in Lighting.

What is the most satisfying part of working at City Theatrical? Our team, and feeling comfortable and supported in my efforts to expand my capabilities.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue a career in Lighting? Always channel and employ confidence in yourself and learn as much as possible; expand your horizons, since being self-assured is the first step toward surpassing what you think you're capable of.

How long have you worked at City Theatrical? 23+ years 

What is the most satisfying part of working at City Theatrical? With my more than 2 decades of working in the company, I have been branded as the “mother of the company”. It gives me so much pride that through the years, I feel the respect and acknowledgement from the staff up to the Management.  I have fun organizing month-end gatherings as a company’s treat to all employees for our hard work.

Doing sales and customer service provide me the opportunity to work with lots of people locally and globally, of different cultures and personalities that help me improve my abilities and my interpersonal skills.      

What advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue a career in Lighting? The working environment is changing for the better as more women are working in the Lighting industry as a designer, maker, innovator, installer, technical support and as a salesperson like me. We women have the innate qualities that makes us a great asset to the sales environment. Women succeed in sales - the same way men do. We have to always find ways to improve our strategy. Continually strive as an active listener, a problem-solver, and a learner. We should treat the customers like a friend and understand their needs.  

Empowerment is the key to achieve goals and equality. Maintain a positive self-esteem – “I can do this!”

What is the most satisfying part of working at City Theatrical? The best part of working at City Theatrical is being able to work on a wide variety of projects with people in every department who are not only incredibly intelligent, but who are also so passionate about the work they do. I’m constantly learning from the best! It is also so rewarding to see all the places our products go and projects we get to be a part of.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue a career in Lighting? Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and always be open to learning.

What is the most satisfying part of working at City Theatrical? Meeting customers from all over the world and helping them set up and resolve problems with their space, events, shows, and experiences. Getting to problem-solve and repair gear is what I love to do, and I find the challenges to be rewarding.  

What advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue a career in Lighting? The world of lighting is demanding but if it is your passion and dream to be a part of something beautiful and exhilarating, staying true to that can be the most rewarding experience you will ever have. This male-dominated industry can be hard to break into but with persistence, you can truly find a rewarding and fulfilling life. Finding your place within the industry is a worthwhile adventure.
